@InsidersABC I would not have expressed it quite that way, but Waleed’s point is basically correct. We should elect politicians to make difficult judgements. Our problem is that we have a political class whose judgement is fatally undermined by partisanship and constrained by vested interests
This is what really confuses me. No one is advocating for eternal lockdown etc- just proper management of infection which might include restriction of movement where necessary. Waleed Aly’s comments were also a false equivalence like this

Wow the unhinged replies to that completely reasonable statement by Waleed Aly. It does seem there is a divide forming in post-pandemic politics, not easily grouped into the standard left vs right categories.
I often disagree with Waleed on many things - but what he has articulated re the role of not only advisors but politicians couldn’t be any more correct.
