There has been a 24% decline of Ontario Works and a 2% decline in ODSP. In the budget it states for every 1%=28 million OW saved/58 million for ODSP, which equates to over 788 million saved. How is the ministry reinvesting this funding?
ODSP on Twitter
@AndreaHorwath Are you going to put the poor in Jail or give us more money that we earned like stop deducting CPPD from ODSP.
@LGretzky IF YOU ARE ON ODSP AND CANNOT OBTAIN THE CDTC THEN YOU ARE NOT DISABLED ENOUGH GET A JOB
With the cost of housing at averages of $1244 in Ottawa, $1417 in Toronto, $941 in Sudbury, for example, how can people expect to pay for shelter when shelter allotment is $390 on OW, $733 total with basic needs? It’s only a total of $1169 for ODSP. How can they afford to live?
@JustinTrudeau @G7 How about people on disability at home? Will you continue to kick us all down? #odsp
Have been watching. Thank you Lisa, it IS insulting for anyone to insinuate that ODSP recipients are “in the system too long” and a job is the only answer to the abject poverty they are forced to live in. Appreciate you pointing this out.
@LGretzky How many on ODSP have died due to Covid in the last year ? We have numbers for LTC, but where is the numbers for ODSP? Please don’t tell me they don’t know.
@LGretzky Watching Todd pat himself on the back for providing 100-200$ to only a few people for 3 MONTHS when people on OW/ODSP are living below the level of poverty is sickening. Thank you for standing up to him, Lisa. I would love to see Todd survive one month on 700-1100$
@LGretzky just brought up how can people with disabilities live on current supports 1169 on #ODSPoverty? She also asked why only 40 percent knew about the 100 pandemic per month then stop after 3 months #onpoli
The ministry tells me it has be reinvested into the emergency benefit. I point out only 42% of OW/ODSP we’re able to access because it wasn’t offered to all, people couldn’t reach their worker and they had to ask for it. It was also only available for 2 months of the pandemic.
@ToddSmithPC . ODSP caseworkers say they know nothing about COVID-related discretionary benefits
@LGretzky The Q I have is, where did those people go? Are they on the street? dead? working? The poverty legislated with odsp, ow, is criminal.

@brendaschreibe8 @AndreaHorwath LOL, I understand the requirements for getting CERB. But the point of CERB was so that people could survive. People on ODSP are barely surviving. We need an increase in our rates. $2000 was the minimum the gov said was needed to live, we ask for nothing less. #RaiseDisability2000
@hunterhockey @DanFoxTO Hire people with disabilities & actually let us have a quality of life that’s even slightly better than ‘existing’ on ODSP!
Still waiting for anyone on govt side to explain how ODSP clients are supposed to survive on $1169/mo.
@MY_KINDA_SEX_ED @LGretzky The fact that they think that they are well underway to 'remaking' OW/ODSP shows how little they care or how little they understand the system. Hearing this makes my blood boil. I see so many people hurting and they are patting themselves on the back.
@StephenPunwasi It would take 18 years for a single person on ODSP to be able to afford 1 kidney, if they saved absolutely every single cent from day one.
@AShoutAbout @FixPovertyNow But the government thinks $2000/mo is what you need to survive if you work but have left ODSP at 1990’s rates giving only $1169/mo while increasing their rental allowance 20% after giving themselves a big pay increase but cut ODSP increase in half with nothing since. Cri
