According to the press service of the China Aircraft Corporation (AVIC), on March 4, 2021, the AG600 amphibious aircraft successfully conducted the first tests of the fire extinguishing system.

The tests were carried out at one of the reservoirs in the city of Jingmen (central Hubei province) and lasted 1 hour and 36 minutes. The seaplane is intended for the needs of civil aviation and is specially designed for fighting forest fires and carrying out rescue operations. Earlier, there was information that this aircraft could be used by the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China to protect the country’s interests at sea during patrol operations.

The maximum take-off weight of the AG600 is 53.5 tons. It can reach speeds of up to 500 km / h with a flight range of up to 4.5 thousand km and a stay in the air for up to 12 hours. The aircraft is 37 meters long and has a wingspan of 38.8 meters. The aircraft will be produced in passenger and cargo versions.
