Covid-19 live updates: India cracks 20 million coronavirus cases as infections spread
India on Tuesday reported 3,57,229 new case, taking the overall case count past the 2 crore mark to 2,02,82,833. Only the US, with more than 3.3 crore cases so far, has recorded a higher count. Brazil is in third spot with fewer than 1.5 crore cases. The Indian government has, to date, provided nearly 16.69 crore vaccine doses to states/UTs free of cost. A strict lockdown should be imposed in areas where the Covid-19 case positivity rate is over 10 per cent or the bed occupancy is above 60 per cent, AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said on Tuesday, while stressing that clamping such restrictions all over the country cannot be a solution, keeping in mind peoples livelihood.
