@JohnRClem @bernhardtsoccer Nah Parkhurst fouled the shit out of the Portland guy.
Two RI connections in the MLS Cup game tonight - Cranston’s Michael Parkhurst plays for Atlanta. Doing color for Portland’s radio call is former URI soccer great @RossSmith_20, who over the span of a month taught me the Canadian National Anthem freshman year at URI..
@beardyblue True, but you can clearly see Parkhurst committing a foul 🤷♂️.
@TaylorTwellman Good picture, didnt get that view on regardless, though, the ball came off ebobisse not parkhurst. Wish you were doing this your game calling has improved but time.
@ThierryGotWings @NotANerd_ Deffffinitely looked like Parkhurst ran through Ebobisse - just like the foul on BWP that led to their 2nd in the first leg against us 🤔.
@DougRobersonAJC Have you been able to see an up close of the Parkhurst tackle? Why hasn’t it been broadcast?.
@chouse7 @flaryglary Ebo took a heavy touch, so it was more of a 50/50 ball I think and Parkhurst got all ball.
Josef thought Parkhurst was going to get the foul called on him for his tackle on Ebobisse 😅😅😅😅.
So far I’d say that Garza and Gressel have caused the most danger. They are putting in dangerous ball after dangerous ball. LGP and Parkhurst are doing a decent job but they have been caught out once or twice towards the end of the half #MLSCup.
@kipkesgard Kelly was right there. No idea how he missed that. Parkhurst went through Ebo, and into the ankles..
Los beneficios de la presión asfixiante del #Atlanta Parkhurst incomoda al receptor que ejecuta un mal pase atrás y le deja la pelota a Josef Martinez cara a cara con el arquero, 1-0 al #Portland.
@ideserveabeer As noted in this photo, ebo played the ball, not parkhurst, so no thanks for posting the photo.
@mikefountains @MrBill11 You’re saying when Parkhurst made the tackle Martinez was off? Looked like the right back kept everybody well onside.
Yes, Martinez was onside but upon review, it appears Parkhurst took out Ebobisse from behind on a slide tackle & it should have been a foul call. But hindsight..
@RobUsry Parkhurst is a beast and two 50/50 won tackles by him and Martinez in attacking handles the rest. He was in an offside position but it was off of Parkhurt’s tackle so it wasn’t a pass..
Still absorbing the fact that an aggressive, perfectly-executed Michael Parkhurst tackle is the thing that created an opening goal for Atlanta. #MLSCup.
@TaylorTwellman Clear foul on Parkhurst. Cannot take a guy down from behind without getting the ball..
@RobUsry You can argue that Parkhurst’s tackle was a foul that wasn’t called..
@RobUsry Ebo got picked by Parkhurst, Ridgewell then lost a 50/50 ball and Martinez finished..
@samzaffrann @alexwarneke I got you on the rules but real time it looked like it was Parkhurst‘s slide tackle is what sent ball back to seems like horrible aspect of rule if Martinez ends up being onside just because it deflected off Portland defender.
@ChrisRifer I would say it’s incompetence, but the fact that they gave us 14 good and different angles on the Mabiala/Martinez issue, yet show nothing of the parkhurst fouls on Jebo makes me feel like they just don’t want to show bad misses from the ref.
@TaylorTwellman I’d like a closer look at the Parkhurst challenge. If Ebo played it back it doesn’t matter if he was onside..
GOAL Atlanta United!! Josef Martinez SCORES. Parkhurst with the pressure to force a turnover, Martinez pounces, fakes out Attinella, and scores. 1-0 ATL, 40th minute. #MLSCup.
